The Real Deal With Public Enemies

Johny Depp and Christian Bale really help make this movie tell the story of John Dillinger

While Watching this movie I was blown away by the realism that it portrayed. The movie gave a really great 1930s depression gangster feel and allowed for director Michael Mann to really portray a dramatic and compelling story of the life of John Dillinger. This depression era folk hero is portrayed extremely well by Depp in what I think is one of his best performances in a while.

Personally I found it really interesting on how Mann portrayed J Edgar Hoover. It seemed to be exactly on the money with how he would act. Also, I don't want to give Christian Bale the short stick he definitely played a strong GMAN kicking down doors and gunning down gangsters. Oh how I would have loved to have lived in that era. Full of intrigued, greed, hardship, its the exact setting in which you can define who you are.

Finally I would have to say that the movie really kept you interested the whole time. It wasn't exactly fast paced but each scene really placed each piece of the story nicely into its place. Although it was somewhat slow at times it never really made me lose interest. I can't remember the last time that I have watched a movie and haven't said that they could have done with a scene or two. Lord of the Rings Return of the King is a perfect example of that...haha....I am pretty sure if it ended half an hour earlier I would have been happy.

Anyway my final thoughts...Its a drama, with a magnifiscent feel, with an excellent cast. If you have a need for a DRAMAtic remedy then Public Enemies will feed that need!
